Plan the Reading Retreat of Your Dreams
The answer to that question is truly up to you, and your reading retreat group! It can be as organized and structured as you wish, or as open and free as you desire.
A reading retreat is simply a place where books are at the heart of your travel experience, they are available to you in abundance, and there is the space and time to read to your heart’s content.
We know what you’re thinking…a reading retreat? Is this really a thing? Can I take time off from work, pack up all those books piling up on the bedside table, head to somewhere quiet and secluded – and tell people I’m going on a retreat?
Yes, we’re delighted to say, absolutely.
In fact, for many years, Bill Gates went into seclusion for what he called “Think Weeks” – family, friends and Microsoft employees were banned from his retreat, and he used the time to reflect and read books he had set aside. Word has it he still schedules getaways twice a year to catch up on reading.
The 1890 House is the perfect place to do this for yourself! The House is a recently restored, nicely appointed Victorian style farmhouse accommodating eight in four bedrooms (twin beds) with 3 full baths, a fully equipped kitchen, dining room and twin wrap-around porches (up & down) overlooking 30 acres. We provide the linens and guests may provide their own food or go to one of the many nearby restaurants. Free WiFi is available as well, so the Kindles are just as welcome as the physical copies.
So this Spring, why not grab seven of your best friends, and forget about everything but your to-be-read stacks?
